What is corporate responsibility?

CR stands for long-term oriented entrepreneurship which include initiatives that go over and above legal and customer requirements and that are rooted in the principles and objectives of the organization.

This involves a company’s approach to the quality of goods and services, business ethics, health and safety, environmental practices, treatment of employees, community engagement, and human rights – all of which should form part of an efficient, transparent and integrated management framework.

CR also stands for a consultancy that offers its clients support around an efficient and sustainable way of business doing.  Welcome !

2017   Xycarb Ceramics, part of the Schunk Group and headquartered in Helmond (NL), is the Industry Leading Technology Company providing advanced technical consumable parts for the Semiconductor,- LED,- and Solar Wafer Processing Industries.

Quality Assurance Management
was provided for a period of 6 months. Tasks of the QA manager were to lead a team of Quality Engineers and to develop and implement plans to further improve the quality assurance function of Xycarb.   
 
  Abbott Vascular, a division of Abbott, is a global leader in cardiac and vascular care. At one of their major Distribution Centers, located in Heerlen (NL), a multi-day Corporate audit was performed to verify compliance with the Abbott standards and local legislation on Industrial Health & Hygiene, Environmental protection, Biosafety, Product stewardship and Process- and Contractor safety. This was done by an international team of auditors in which CR participated.
2016 Damen is a multinational shipbuilding group with more than 6,000 employees and a presence in 34 countries. At one of their facilities, CR developed and implemented management systems on Environment/Energy (conform ISO 14001) and on Health and Safety (conform OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001). At the same time the ISO 9001 quality management system was upgraded to the new High Level Structure (HLS). This was done on an interim basis under the supervision of NEN. The challenge was to create a transparent, workable and effective integrated quality management system. Beginning 2017 the management systems mentioned were certified succesfully.
   

3M has operations in more than 65 countries and produces more than 55000 products, including: adhesives, abrasives, laminates, electronic materials  medical products, and optical films. CR acted as REACH-audit expert during the 2-week 3M Corporate audit on product safety, stewardship, and compliance at the 3M locations in Belgium (Diegem) and Germany (Neuss and Hilden). Among the subjects that were audited were: tracking of REACH legal obligations; information on substances in articles; communication on substances to costumers, quality of Safety Data Sheets and quality of Chemical Safety Reports. The outcome of the audit enabled 3M to further improve the process of complying with the European REACH legislation and to further improve customer communication.

Prodrive Technologies, with head office in the Eindhoven area (NL), develops and produces electronic and mechatronic products and systems for the automotive, medical and industrial sector. For the Dutch standardisation Institute (NEN), CR provided two multi-day training courses for internal auditors of Prodrive. Goal for the auditors was to gain the necessary skills to perform risk-based audits on a ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, TS 16949, ISO 13485 and ISO 17025 certified management system.
  CR developed and guided a multiday operational auditing course at the DSM Head Office in Heerlen for the DSM international corporate auditors. The course contained lectures, exercises and cases. Participants were able to improve their auditing skills while trying to identity issues at a virtual feed producing company. Audit areas included  product quality, safety and security based on ISO 22000, Fami-QS and ISO 27001 guidelines. By creating a setting very similar to that of a real-life audit, the operational audit department was able to further improve DSM's internal auditing processes. >> Auditor training
  Hunter Douglas is world market leader in window coverings and a major manufacturer of architectural products. Hunter Douglas employs about 17,000 people in more than 100 countries. For Hunter Douglas Europe, CR contributed to an international workshop in which Environmental Officers of various European countries presented their efforts to reach ISO 14001 certification. CR contributed to the discussions, provided the gap analysis tool and presented the ins and outs of the ISO14001 standard.  
  Delinuts BV supplies nuts, dried semi-tropical fruit and chocolate products both in bulk and in consumer packing. Delinuts has been awarded the certifcations for ISO 22000, BRC, IFS, SKAL and UTZ. For VKAM-Education, CR provided an internal-audit training based on cases very similar to Delinuts' processes and quality risks. The training made the participants more effective as internal auditor.
  APM Terminals, part of the Maersk Group, is one of the world's largest port and terminal operators. APM implemented a Health, Safety, Security, Environmental management based on NTA 8620, ISO 28000, Authorized Economic Operator. For the Rotterdam terminal, CR provided an internal-audit training based on cases very similar to APM's operational processes and risks. The training made the participants more effective in detecting potential weakness and opportunities in APM's HSSE management system.  
  The Nuclear Research & consultancy Group (NRG), located in Petten (NL), is an internationally-operating nuclear service provider. The company produces isotopes, conducts nuclear technological research, is a consultant on the safety and reliability of nuclear installations and provides services related to radiation protection. CR developed and carried out an ISO 19011-based multiday auditor training, representing NEN, the Dutch Standardization Institute. While participating to the cases, role plays and discussions during the training, the NRG internal auditors were enabled to virtually audit Quality (ISO 9001) and Information Security (ISO 27001) management systems. NRG benefited by having more qualified and skilled internal auditors available for realising its internal audit program.  >> Auditor training
2015   The Erasmus University Medical Center (Erasmus MC), based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, is affiliated with Erasmus University and is one of the largest University Medical Centers in Europe. For the departments Radiology and Nuclear Medicine a multiday internal audit training was provided. CR developed and carried out the training representing NEN, the Dutch Standardization Institute. The content was based on the ISO 19011 auditing standard. During the training, participants of different levels in the organisation where made more familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management in general and key concepts like leadership, target setting, performance indicators and information security in particular. Participants were able to improve their auditing knowledge and skills in cases from the health care sector that were presented during the training. The participants will use the acquired skills while carrying out internal audits in their organisation. >> Auditor training  
    DSM Nutritional Products is one of the world's leading suppliers of vitamins, carotenoids and other ingredients to the feed, food, pharmaceutical and personal care industries. At one of their North American plants, CR assisted in preparing a multi-day Corporate SHE&Q training. The training included lectures and exercises on ISO 22000 based management systems, auditor behavior and interviewing and reporting skills. CR provided cases on Food safety, Food Quality, Explosion safety, Industrial Hygiene, Product stewardship, Working at height and Confined space entry. Additionally, the participants were enabled to conduct an site tour at the plant and to interview relevant site personnel. Their findings on the auditee's risk management system were evaluated by the trainers and reported back to site management. >> Auditor training        
    Royal Vopak is the world’s leading independent tank storage provider for the oil and chemical industry. At three of their European terminals, which are SEVESO regulated  sites, CR performed a compliance audit against European, natioanal and local legislation on Environment, occupational Health & Safety and Process Safety. The compliance audit included observations of loading/unloading activities, evaluation of contractor supervision, review of tank documentation and emergency planning.

  Merck is a global top ten healthcare company that discovers, develops, manufactures and markets pharmaceutical products to improve human health and animal health. At one of their major European Animal Health sites, a multi-day Corporate audit was performed to verify compliance with the Merck standards and local legislation on Industrial Health & Hygiene, Environmental protection, Biosafety, Product stewardship and Process- and Contractor safety. This was done by an international team of auditors in which CR participated.     AH Reaction Vessels
  Tata Steel is one of the world top-5 steel producers. At one of their European plants, a designated major-hazard facility, CR is involved in auditing process-safety-risk management. During the audit, retrospective process hazard reviews are evaluated and key personell are interviewed. Audit criteria are the ISO 31000 risk management standard, standards on safety studies (what-if, bow-tie) and applicable internal procedures. Goal of the audit is to enable the client to continously improve process safety.

  CR lead a Primark Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental audit for KPMG Ireland at a Dutch Primark store. Aspects covered by the audit were organisation & management, infrastructure & workplace, emergency control, machine safety & maintenance, ergonomics & health and environment. Recommendations were provided to further improve HSE management.

  REACH-IT CR guided KPMG being the REACH 'Only Representative' in Europe of Gazpromneft refineries in Moscow, Omsk (Russia) and Novisad (Serbia). REACH is European legislation that requires companies to submit a registration dossier for each chemical they manufacture or import in certain quantities. Dossiers for around 40 high volume fuels and petrochemicals have been prepared and successfully registered. Also, in compliance with EU CLP regulation, 29 Material Safety Data Sheets have been drawn up. For the Gazpromneft Head office in Moscow, a regulatory tracking system for fuels and petrochemicals has been built, covering present and upcoming legislation in the US, Turkey, China and the EU.
  CR carried out a multiday Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) audit for 'Young and global partners' at two Dutch sites of the South-African company Aspen Pharmacare. The sites, both located near the city of Oss (NL), manufacture Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients for pharmaceutical companies. The site is formally indicated as a Major Hazard ('SEVESO') site. One of the focal areas of the audit therefore was process safety and chemicals management. Recommendations were given that enabled Aspen to keep improving their HSE performance fundamentally.   >> Auditing Major Hazards Sites
  CR provided interim Quality Management for MAHLE Industry Filtration in Hamburg (Germany). The company supplies de-oiling, de-watering and water treatment equipment to mainly marine clients. Activities included incoming goods inspection, equipment calibration, supplier evaluation, product stewardship, customer communication and management system documentation. It resulted in a successful ISO 9001 external re-certification. 
    CR acted as environmental compliance auditor during a corporate audit at a John Deere site in the Netherlands that develops and manufactures agricultural spraying equipment. Based on the audit findings, CR was able to advice the company on Dutch environmental legislation in general and the preparation of a register of applicable legal requirements in particular.
earlier ASML is the largest supplier in the world of photolithography systems for the semiconductor industry. The company manufactures machines for the production of integrated circuits. Being a member of a KPMG team, CR performed a business risk assessment at ASML Head Office in Veldhoven (NL) on business continuity. Among the aspects evaluated were: innovation, quality, staffing and future availability of raw materials. The results were discussed with the ASML Management Team.
  Redevco is a European retail real estate specialist offering store space for more than 1000 retailers. The main tenants include C&A, Maxeda, Primark, LVMH (Sephora), H&M, GAP, Next, Metro, Karstadt and Inditex. For Redevco Netherlands CR guided the implementation and continual improvement of the ISO 14001 certification for over 5  years and performed environmental and energy audits on selected properties. CR developed a management dashboard that included the amount and type of BREEAM certifications and property energy labels as well as the energy performance of the tenants. With this information Redevco was able to monitor and improve the sustainability and energy performance of its retail real estate portfolio and its tenants.
  In cooperation with the Quality Department of Arriva NL, CR implemented an ISO 9001 Quality management system covering public transport with bus and train in several provinces in the Netherlands. A Quality policy was formulated and targets were set to comply with legal requirements and demands and expectations of clients and travellers. The management system has been successfully certified by KIWA certification services.
  Alliander operates energy networks which distribute gas and electricity to large parts of the Netherlands. CR carried out an energy audit, together with experts of KPMG Sustainability, to investigate opportunities for Alliander to reduce energy consumption an related CO2 emissions. Also a CO2 emissions dashboard, with energy KPI's per department, was developed to provide top management with the necessary steering information while moving towards climate neutral operations.
  BASF SE is the largest chemical producer in the world and is headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany. In the Netherlands, BASF owns 6 sites, 2 of which are so-called major hazard (SEVESO) sites. For internal auditors of BASF Netherlands, CR provided a training on auditing areas including environment, industrial hygiene, chemicals management and external safety. The audit training was based on the ISO 19011 international standard for auditing management systems.
    An ISO 14001 Environmental management system has been implemented covering public transport with bus and train in several provinces in the Netherlands CR guided the implementation of a coherent framework of environmental policies, targets, an environmental and energy-management 'dashboard' and systematic internal inspections. Legal compliance was checked for 43 locations throughout the Netherlands where busses or trains are parked, fuelled, cleaned and maintained. The management system has been successfully certified by KIWA certification services.
    For the Dutch national government CR performed energy audits on 9 buildings ranging from museums, monuments, a national library and one of the most sustainable buildings of the Netherlands which is located in Groningen. The approach was followed of what is now the ISO 16247 standard. On each of the objects an economic energy analysis was done and a long-term energy conservation program was set up. With the report the client was able to make economically and environmentally sound decisions on the implementation of energy conservation measures, planned renovations and changes in the real estate portfolio.
 

ASICS is a Japanese producer of sportswear and sports equipment. For its European Head Office in Hoofddorp (NL) and for ASICS Deutschland GmbH (Neuss, Germany), CR implemented ISO 14001 management systems for environment and product stewardship. The systems were designed such, that all procedures could be fitted on an A1 sized poster. This enabled the client to do without a traditional 'manual'. It also provided a much better overview of how the different elements of the management system geared together. Lean management systems like these, where the amount of documentation is kept to a minimum, perfectly fitted the primarily administrative activities of both organizations.

   

For the public water supply utility company 'Waternet' (formerly Gemeente Waterleidingen Amsterdam) a zero audit was carried out and an project plan drawn up for the implementation of a Quality (ISO 9001), Health & Safety and Environmental (ISO 14001) management system. For this purpose key personnel was interviewed at the Head Office in Amsterdam and a site tour was conducted at one of the production locations for drinking water ('Leiduin'). It enabled the client to effectively plan resources and to monitor the progress of the project.

 
  Jurriëns is a building and construction company, established in 1894, that specializes in building restorations, renovations, and building maintenance. Jurriëns also offers new building construction, stone mason, and carpentry services. For Jurriëns CR developed an ISO 14001 environmental management system covering the three office locations and all relevant building and construction sites. CR also guided the implementation of newly developed procedures and applicable legislation. The management system was successfully certified by KIWA certifications. 
  Allnex is a global producer of coating resins with 17 manufacturing facilities and 12 research and technology support centers. Being part of a KPMG team, CR conducted a REACH audit in order to verify whether the Allnex 'sole REACH importer structure' and related customs formalities are in compliance with the REACH regulation.   >> REACH auditing
  Over a period of 4 years, CR implemented management systems at 7 ministries of the Dutch central government in The Hague, all of which were certified according to the relevant ISO standards. The scope of the management systems ranged from Environment only to fully integrated management systems on Environment, Health, Safety & Quality
